Lately my allergies have been very active, and my sinuses are just going nutso crazy. Which definitely affects my sleep patterns. And while I’ve been getting up pretty well in the mornings and have been going to bed mostly on time at night, I’ve not had the best of work attitude during the day. This morning I was reminded of the scriptures that encourage us to do our jobs as unto the Lord. And the Lord reminded me about a scripture that I memorized many years ago. 1 Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or WHATEVER YOU DO, do it all for the glory of God” (emphasis is mine). Today everything I do will be done for the glory of God….today I desire for my day to give glory to my Lord.
I do have a lot to do today, a long to do list, but in all honesty, I’m not sure what I will get done. I am babysitting, and have an activity to save my energy for tonight (more about that in a bit)……so here is my “to do list” for today, really praying I can get all of it done but am going to let the day direct my activities 🙂
- baking–cinnamon rolls, pumpkin bread, chocolate bread, granola and MAYBE some dinner rolls
- clean out and organize spice cabinet (my facebook friends will remember I had this planned for a few weeks ago, but I never got it done)
- plan meals for next week and make grocery list
- make daily schedules for the kids and some lesson planning
- clean back bathroom
In my last post I mentioned that we have recently started the search for a new church home. The church that we’ve attended the past 3 weeks has a multi-cultural ministry, and they have 2 “daughter churches”…one is a Mienh (Laotian) Church, the other is a Hispanic Church. This past Sunday the leaders of the Mienh church did a short presentation during the main service, and I was so blessed by it. You see, when D and I were first married over 20 years ago we were part of a college & career group that co-sponsored 2 Hmong families to come to the US. we were very involved with the southeast asian community at that time, and LOVED having those ties to such wonderful people. Our first baby and move to another city took us away from that experience, and I hadn’t realized how much I missed it until Sunday. Well tonight, this new church and the Mienh church are hosting a Worship Night, to be followed by a “feast”….I am really looking forward to worshipping with my southeast asian brothers & sisters!!!! And sharing this experience with our children. What a neat night it will be, and will be like stepping back in time for D and I 🙂
