Easy and Absolutely Delicious Salisbury Steak

This past week I made a wonderful dinner that everyone really enjoyed!   It was delicious and very filling.    Very easy, and WAY MORE meat than we needed in one sitting, but very yummy, nonetheless.    It was something I’ve never made before, and I honestly wasn’t sure how it would turn out or how it would taste, and I’m very thankful that it was everything I wanted 🙂   You see, I have a secret, I adore Banquet frozen dinners, specifically the salisbury steak dinner.   It is one of my favorite frozen convenience foods.   Well, I had a bunch of ground beef in the fridge, so I decided to try my hand at salisbury steak with brown gravy.

Salsbury Steak My Way

  • 3 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • GRAVY Ingredients
  • 3 cups beef broth (or equivalent of water and beef bouillon)
  • 1 cup water mixed with 1/2-3/4 cup flour to make a paste that is about as thick as pudding
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • dash of worcestershire sauce

Combine the meat, onion, milk & salt & pepper.  Form into 6 large patties (I made mine oval shaped).    Heat a large skillet over medium high heat until it is nice and hot.   Place patties in very hot skillet and brown on one side.  Flip and let brown on the other, then remove from skillet and set aside on a plate.  In the drippings pour the water/flour mixture and stir until it is hot and slightly bubbly.  Gradually add beef broth whisking and allowing each addition of broth to thicken and be well mixed in.   Once you have a nice gravy consistency, add beef patties back into the gravy, turn heat down to medium-low, cover with lid or foil and let simmer for 15 minutes until beef is cooked through.    Serve with mashed potatoes…..YUM 🙂
