As we approach the Advent season for this year, I have been playing some Christmas music a little bit this week, and have started a devotional that is based on Christmas Carols. Today’s carol that was highlighted was “Away In A Manger” It got me to thinking about Christ’s birth. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Messiah, the Son of God, the Savior of the World was born in a stable, was wrapped in cloths, and then laid in a feeding trough. He was born in a very humble setting, certainly not one fit for someone of His great importance.
Luke 2:6-7 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
I sometimes wonder why Jesus had such a humble beginning to His life. I do wonder if God was trying to make Him more relatable to the people that He would be doing ministry with and to/for?
