A moment in God’s Word today….11/20/12

This time of year is my favorite time of year (and if you have read my blog for any length of time, you know that).   I love the holiday season….family, friends, good food, and a time of concentrating on the blessings that God has given us in our lives.   Not material blessings, but those of life, liberty, family, friends, church, grace, Truth, salvation, etc.   These are all things that I’m thankful for in my life.  If it hadn’t been for a dear friend knocking on our back door 26 years ago, my life could have (and probably would have) turned out very differently.  While I love this time of year, I know that for many this time of year is painful.   For some, time with family and friends isn’t good, for some you just never know what to expect.  Some have lost loved ones and the holidays are very painful, for some of us, we come from broken homes, and holidays just remind us that our families are not quite complete, for some of us, our families have, well, family issues and holiday time just means more fighting, more slammed doors, more broken expectations (believe me, I KNOW that pain….I grew up HATING the holidays!).  I haven’t lived those types of holidays in several years, and I am thankful, but those holidays are part of what has shaped me as a wife, mother, daughter-in-law, sister and child of God.

This morning God was so good to remind me that I haven’t always had it so good, and that He has been there and been faithful through ALL of those holiday years….

Lamentations 3:22-26  The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.   “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.”  The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.  It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

The Lord’s mercies ARE new every morning!   His steadfast love NEVER ends.  His faithfulness IS great.   Please know that if the holidays are a rough time for you, there is one that knows your pain, can carry your burden, and loves you with a love that is completely and totally incomprehensible!   He calls out for you, He pursues you, and He waits for you.   Turn to Him.  Trust in Him.

Thank you Lord for your word, and your reminders in my life of Your goodness!
