A moment in God’s Word today….November 19, 2012

This morning as I was reading God’s word and doing my devotions, I (once again) was having a difficult time staying focused because of lack of sleep again.  I was wondering if God was going to speak to me through His word today.  On Friday I finished two of the mini-devotionals that I have been doing, and decided that on Monday I would start a new one.  So I went looking for one in the Bible Reading plans on YouVersion (an app for your mobile device OR a website here on your computer) and found one on Thanksgiving.   God knew exactly what I needed this morning! 🙂   I just needed to be patient and follow His leading …… He is always faithful!

Psalm 95:1-7  Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!  Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!   For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.  In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.  The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.  Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our maker!  For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

God is good, God is great, and greatly to be praised!  Today’s devotional reminded me that we were created to bring God glory, to reflect Him.   So many times when we talk to Him in prayer, it is asking for provision, or protection….it’s about us.  Not about Him.  What I took away from this passage of scripture and the devotional today is that God would be glorified if even just one time per day I were to spend time in prayer reflecting on WHO He is, and WHY I worship Him.   Thank you Lord for the relationship that You desire to have with me, and for creating me to be the woman that I am growing to be.  You set the stars into place, you breathed life into man, and spoke every creature and bit of creation into being, You are almighty, all-powerful, You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the creator of everything, yet, you saw me, and chose me and desire a relationship with me!  Thank you Lord.
