A moment in God’s Word today…11/17/12

This morning during my quiet time with God, I wasn’t quite sure that I would have anything to journal about from God’s word.   This morning was one of those days that it was good that it was a habit, because my head just wasn’t in it this morning.   My heart was, and I am SO THANKFUL that God has continued to stir that fire in my heart each morning to get into His Word, but my head was just kind of drifting…..I wasn’t able to really focus on what I was reading.   Until I got to this passage…

Psalm 8 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!  You have set your glory above the heavens.  From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?  You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.  You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the bests of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.   Oh Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

God simply needed to remind me of His majesty and His might for my head to be alligned with my heart this morning.   I mean think about it.  God created the heavens and the earth, He spoke the sun, moon, stars, plants, insects, birds, animals, etc into existence.  Everything that you see today, that is because of Him!   Including us, as humans.  But for us, for man, He didn’t simply speak man into existence as He did all other creation.  He sat down on the ground and took the time to form us.  He was the ultimate artist and sculpted us, formed us from the dust of the ground.  Can you imagine?   He took the time to put our nose in just the right place, with our nostrils facing down so that when it would rain hundreds of years later Noah and his family wouldn’t drown!   He put our eyes in just the right place so that we would have depth perception.  He did all of that with His hands….can you imagine?   And then He stepped back and said “It is VERY good”….all of the other creation He said, “It is good”, but for man, “it is VERY good”…..He was pleased with His handiwork!   God not only is the creator of all that we see, of us, but He is also the author of History!  His hand has been in the lives of every single person that has ever walked on this earth, HIS earth, and everything thing that has ever happened, good or bad, has been allowed by Him! WHOA!!!!   When you think about it in those terms, how can my head NOT be into my time with Him this morning.   I GET to sit at the feet of Him…..at the feet of He who is in ultimate control, the author of our life’s story.  I don’t HAVE to!  I GET to!  it is a privilege, and one that I don’t know that I will take so lightly anymore.   Thank you God, for the reminder of WHO you are this morning!
