Thanksgiving 2012 preparations plan

I learned from my friend Sylvia Britton from the Christian Homekeepers Network several years ago that if you make lists and schedules it helps reduce the stress from holiday preparations.   SO, here’s my schedule for this next week to prepare for Thanksgiving.   I’m praying that this can be a blessing and help to some of my readers 🙂

Thanksgiving 2012 Preparations Schedule

 

Friday, November 16, 2012

  • Clean house
  • Wash and iron tablecloth and napkins for Thanksgiving
  • Make bread and corn bread for stuffing (put into freezer)
  • Make final grocery list
  • Roast turkey breast (for tonight’s dinner) and start broth with bones for gravy & stuffing

 

Saturday, November 17, 2012

  • Clean oven
  • Clean refrigerators
  • Take turkey from freezer for thawing
  • Freeze turkey broth

 

 

 

Sunday, November 18, 2012

  • Final grocery trip

 

Monday, November 19, 2012

  • Make pie crust dough
  • Vacuum and dust

 

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

  • Mop and bathrooms
  • Bake cookies
  • Wash china and serving dishes

 

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

  • Brine turkey all day
  • Cut up and cook veggies for stuffing
  • Prep bread for stuffing (toast it)
  • Get appetizers ready
  • Make cranberry sauce
  • Get serving dishes set out and label with what will be served in each dish
  • Before bed remove turkey from brine and put in fridge  to “dry”
  • Get sweet potato casserole ready
  • Peel and cut potatoes and get into water in fridge
  • Slice mushrooms
  • Slice green onions
  • Cook bacon for peas
  • Make salad dressing
  • Prepare macaroni & cheese

 

Thursday, November 22, 2012

  • 6:30 bake pumpkin pie
  • 7:30 start breakfast
  • Dinner rolls from freezer
  • Take butter out of fridge to soften for dinner
  • 9:30 turkey out of fridge
  • Bake mushrooms, set aside to warm later
  • 10:30 turkey into oven
  • Cook potatoes but do not mash yet
  • Assemble stuffing
  • Assemble green bean casserole
  • Shower, last tidy of house
  • Watch parade and football with family
  • 11:00 Mash potatoes,
  • Reheat mushrooms for 12:00 serving time
  • Get cream cheese appetizers ready for 12:00 serving time
  • 1:30 pull sides from fridge
  • Turkey out of oven at 2:00
  • Sides into oven at 2:00
  • Make green salad
  • Make peas
  • Make grandma’s green beans
  • Warm up dinner rolls
  • Main meal at 3 pm

 

Let family clean up!
