Ah, how I love “fall”! (I do have to put a disclaimer here, for anyone that has read my blog for any length of time, you know that where we live in Central California, we don’t have a true fall season….we have a few days that resemble fall, but it definitely isn’t a full season (which is why I put fall in ” ” )…..we go very quickly from hot to fog). Anyhow, I love that I’m very comfortably able to wear longer pants (mostly capris that are lightweight because the days are still too warm for me to wear jeans without being uncomfortable), and long sleeves in the mornings. But what I love most about this time of year is the colors…I love fall colors! Oranges, rusts, yellows….ah, so beautiful 🙂 I also love the tastes of fall…the soups, stews, spices, apples, persimmons, pomegranates, pumpkin, broccoli/cauliflower, the early citrus harvests…..I love it all! I love to bake during this time of year, it isn’t cold enough to turn the furnace on, but there is a chill in the air that is begging to be warmed, and I like to warm it with warm and delicious things coming from my oven. I also love being able to drink hot drinks without getting overheated! I absolutely love my coffee, tea, hot spiced cider, hot cocoa, etc, but don’t really enjoy drinking them when it is warm because I get overheated. Something else that I really enjoy about fall is the leaves….the ones that have fallen to the ground and need to be raked into a pile….a pile that I can then jump into! (And preferably have someone else rake up again :))
I also love to decorate for fall (and haven’t done it this year yet 😦 )….I love the gourds, the pumpkins, the leaves, the mums, etc, and the candles! If you are in my home in the “fall” and winter, you will find lots of candles going. This year, I have invested in some beautiful LED candles, and they are really nice in places that I don’t want real candles burning like against the walls and in our bedrooms and bathrooms.
I love falll!
