Hi all,
I’m sorry that I’ve been gone for so long again. I’ve been having a hard time getting on here to blog about anything. There is a reason……
A few weeks ago I was talking to a dear dear friend and sister in Christ after church and telling her how excited I was to have seen the pictures on their family website had been updated. Anyhow, we were talking and she mentioned that she had read my blog and that everytime she reads my blog she leaves feeling inadequate. (And S, if you are reading this, PLEASE DO NOT FEEL BADLY!!!! I love you sweet friend, and don’t want you to feel badly…..and please read on Sis!). She told me that seeing all of the baking, and cooking, etc, etc, etc, that I post about on my blog makes her feel as though she’s not doing enough. Well, this particular friend is a fantastic Mommy to 4 kiddos (1 of them in heaven) and a wonderful wife to her husband. She is a good friend, and a very Godly young woman, and I think she does an awesome job of caring for not only her immediate family, but also her parents, grandparents, friends and other extended family. Anyhow, my dear friend’s comment got me to thinking…..how many other women come to my blog and leave feeling the same way? This is why I wanted to share my heart with you, my readers.
I know that many of the people that read my blog (I’m assuming you are all women, except for my honey, of course :)) are repeat readers. Most of you don’t comment, but you visit regularly….some even daily (or a couple of times per day), and that is fine! I do hope that I don’t make any of you ever feel inadequate in the way you care for your home, your family, and your church (if you are a believer in Christ). I firmly believe that God has called each and every one of us to be unique and have different gifts, talents, and passions……it just so happens that God has called me to a different life than He has many other women. And that’s ok! I am a home body. I am happiest at home, piddling around the house and kitchen. I LOVE to bake our breads from scratch, and to be able to provide freshly baked products for a few friends and family. I thoroughly enjoy cooking our meals from scratch (mostly) but we DO eat fast food periodically, and I (mostly) enjoy that too! My house is never spic N span clean, the floors almost always need to be vacuumed and mopped and there is regularly a light layer of dust covering everything. Most of the time there are dirty clothes on the floor in both of our bathrooms, and in the front bathroom, there is usually toothpaste in the sink, 3 or 4 toothbrushes, bobby pins, toothpaste tubes (a lot of times without the lid screwed on), lotion bottles, make up, make up brushes, etc littering the counter. Sometimes all of our trash cans are overflowing, and there are almost always dishes piled in the sink. Part of that is because we are a family of 6 in a 1350 square foot home with 4 pets, part of that is because I choose to play with my kids, watch tv with my husband and have a life outside of cleaning house all of the time. My house is clean, but not perfect and not without newspapers and toys on the coffee table, end tables, and living room floor. These are the choices that I make as a wife, homemaker and daughter of The King…..we all make different choices.
SO, I want you, my sweet and precious readers……all of you, to know that I am BY FAR the perfect homemaker. I just have my passions, and joys and things that make me happy, and they differ from many women out there. So PLEASE don’t ever let my posts, pictures, etc, discourage you……if you are feeling as though you are not measuring up, just remember my messy bathrooms, dirty laundry, dirty dishes, and messy living room. Please know that I am JUST LIKE YOU! but with different passions.
I love you all, and REALLY appreciate all of my readers.
I love your blog and always enjoy seeing what you’re up to. I’m often amazed and impressed, but keep doing it. Like you say, we all have different gifts and you are way better at the baking thing than me!
Mari, thank you so much! Your comments always make me so happy…..I know that you are one of my faithful readers :)….. You’re a doll!
Actually I am pretty bummed when you’re not on for a while. I love to see what you get in your produce basket, what your baking, reading, cooking and what you’re coming up with next. I’ve never felt empty leaving your blog, on the contrary, it gives me hope that if you can do it, then I can one day. :o)
love you lots Lori!!
Thank you Karen! You’ve always been such a dear dear friend! I love you too sweetheart! Hey, can you believe that r is going to be EIGHT in August, and that H is going to be ELEVEN in October? You’ve known me since M was a newborn (or was it just before he was born that we met online?)….he’ll be 13 in November! Which means your D is already 13, right? And isn’t B almost 11? Or is it 12?
Love ya and thank you for the encouragement……
Hey,I’m with you and would rather bake bread than mom a floor any day!!
I’ve never felt bad about anything you’ve written and love to see what you’ve baked and been up to!
