Hi ya'll…

Hi everyone,

Well, I’ve taken this past couple of weeks to try to evaluate some things.     First of all, an update, when I went to the Dr. earlier this month,  he told me that the fatigue is not health related.  He said that it is “lifestyle”…well, he didn’t really explain what that meant.   I still don’t really know, but I have made a conscious effort to get to bed on time every night (well, MOST nights), and taking breaks throughout the day.  In all honesty, it hasn’t really made too much of a difference.   One thing that I have noticed though, if I stay busy in the afternoon, I don’t feel the need to take a nap.  It’s as soon as I sit down to read or watch a tv show or cross stitch or anything I’m suddenly ready for a nap!   I am still waking up tired MOST mornings, but have found that the days that I make sure to take my vitamins (more on that later) the less tired I wake up the next morning.    So it may partially be lifestyle, but it may also be partially that I am just a low energy person.   I do know that some people are lower energy than others, maybe I’m one of those low energy people……if it’s like this at the age of 39, I DON’T want to know what it is like for me at 49, 59, etc.

Ok, onto the next thing, when I went in for my Dr. appt I had labs run for cholesterol, blood sugar, etc.    When I called the Drs office a few days later to get my results my blood sugar is in very good range, my iron is higher than it has been EVER (well, that I can remember….I’ve always been borderline enemic) but my cholesterol and triglycerides were a little high.  They are lower than they were 2 1/2 years ago when I was checked last, but still slightly high…I’m in the “borderline high” range, so the Dr. wants to recheck me in 3-6  months.  They want me to work on diet and exercise.   So, on that note, I bought “The DASH* Diet for Hypertension:  Lower Your Blood Pressure in 14 Days–WITHOUT Drugs”    Yes, it is for blood pressure, but I have an online friend that has brought her cholesterol down by following this eating program, and in the book it does say that it will help with bringing the cholesterol down as well.    It is a healthy, nutritionally balanced eating plan, and they have different calorie levels.     To see a condensed version of the plan you can see it here .

Anyhow, today is day 2 on this program, and I’m having a hard time eating enough food to keep up with the 1600 calories (which is a level that I CAN lose weight at)….yesterday when I entered all of my food that I ate (which was actually a LOT of food) into my Weight Watchers Online food log I was under my points allowance by 2 points….which means I didn’t eat enough calories.    Today I’m going to be working at getting more grains servings and making sure I get enough water to drink.

Let’s see, this week R is helping coach a Sports Camp for one of our inner city schools (the program is being sponsored by our church), and she continues to babysit quite a bit.

Some of our friends are out of town for the week, so we are taking care of their pet and checking the house, etc.  Last night we went swimming while we were there.  This morning M woke up with swimmer’s ear!   Would you believe that this is the first time in my 14 1/2 years of being a Mommy that I have had to deal with swimmer’s ear?    I put a cotton ball soaked in garlic oil in his ear this morning and then after asking around I put a few drops of rubbing alcohol in his ear.   He’s not complaining about it anymore, so it must be feeling better.

Well, an exercise DVD is calling my name and so is a sinkful of dirty dishes, so I’m going to end this now.  Will update everyone more later with more of what is going on with us 🙂

    Hey Lori,

I never sent you the pics of our herb garden. Still want them? Okay, now I want to tell you that I was in the ER with chest pain, had been quite weak and tired for months prior. So, just prior to that had been in for a physical. Of course they tell both me it’s stress. I was ticked. Anyway, I went to yet another doctor because although my life is stressful, is it really so stressful that I can’t handle it, right? In the meantime I went on a diabetic diet which got me perked up in no time. I read the Sugar Solution – from the library. Well the next doctor does even more blood work. Turns out I had a bacterial infection and mono! Hah! Well, I’m doing better now, but isn’t it amazing how rest and diet can make you feel better. I really don’t think my lifestyle is so crazy but maybe compared to others it is????? Ramble ramble and a blah blah blah. Sorry to have not been able to compose a more thoughtful comment but my lifestyle just won’t allow it. Hugs and love from me, Eileen
