Hi Jenny and everyone else that is wondering about bierocks…..they are a german sandwich. They are similar to a calzone or other hand sandwich used to send husbands off with a one handed lunch “back in the day”. They are quite popular where I live in the Central Valley of California. They are basically a bread dough (I prefer homemade whole wheat bread dough) with a mixture of browned ground beef, cabbage, onion and simply seasoned with salt and black pepper. They are quite delicious, and one of my husband’s favorite meals. Because they are rather labor intensive (as are most pocket sandwiches….in my opinion), I don’t make them very often…..but they are definitely worth all the hard work! 🙂

Glad you explained the bierocks, they do sound good but I can see they would take time. Your menu looks good….I LOVE split pea soup and have a recipe that I love for it for the slow cooker.
Thanks for the suggestion on your mushroom barley soup, I’m gonna check it out!
