Taco Seasoning Mix

Mrs. Q asked me in the comments to please post the recipe that I use for taco seasoning in the Crockpot Taco Filling recipe that I posted for SlowCooker Thursday.

Here it is…..super easy, and very tasty!   One thing though, you may need to adjust the salt in it to your liking.   I prefer to start with little salt and add more at the table if necessary.

Taco Seasoning Mix

1/2 cup chili powder
1/4 cup paprika
1/4 cup ground cumin
1 tbsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (more or less to taste)
2 tsp dried oregano leaves
1 tsp salt

Combine all and mix well. Store in airtight container in a cool, dry place up to four months.

Yield: about 1 cup

Thanks Lori You are fast. I posted a pumpkin recipe this morning you would like. You could use whole wheat flour.

Thanks for this recipe. I always have those ingredients on hand. This would be much cheaper than buying taco seasoning!

Can you use this in place of buying those packages of taco mix for other things as well? Like chili?
This looks easy to do and keep, thanks!

Yes, you use this in place of the taco seasoning packets. I think that one of those taco seasoning packets has about 1/4 cup in it.
