Hi all,
This is what I made for dessert tonight, and it was VERY yummy! Now I need to figure out a whole grain version of it 🙂 I did use rapadura (evaporated cane juice…..same type of “sugar” as sucanat, different brand name) in place of the sugar and brown sugar originally called for in the recipe. Here’s the recipe with my changes……
Impossibly Easy French Apple Pie
Filling:
3 cups sliced peeled apples (I didn’t bother to peel them)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup Bisquick Mix
1/2 cup rapadura (or granulated sugar)
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon grapeseed oil (original called for softened butter)
2 eggs
Streusel:
1/2 cup Bisquick Mix (I used 1/4 cup Bisquick and 1/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour)
1/4 cup rolled oats (recipe called for chopped nuts)
1/4 cup rapadura (or packed brown sugar)
2 tablespoons firm butter
1. Heat oven to 325 degrees. Grease 9 inch glass pie plate. In medium bowl, mix apples, cinnamon and nutmeg; place in pie plate.
2. In medium bowl, stir remaining filling ingredients until well blended. Pour over apple mixture in pie plate. In small bowl, mix all streusel ingredients until crumbly; sprinkle over filling.
3. Bake 40-45 minutes or unti knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes. Store in refrigerator.
